Some foods are rich in iron that our body will absorb, while others increase the hemoglobin level and blood count indirectly, through some combination of ingredients.

Anemia is a condition in which there is a deficiency of red blood cells or hemoglobin, or lack of iron. Although there are pharmaceutical preparations for this problem, it’s better to solve it in a natural way.

Here are seven foods that anemic people should consume more:

Beetroot

Recommended for treating anemia even in folk medicine, beetroot is very rich in iron, but also contributes in sustaining the blood work. For this purpose it is recommended to eat it raw (salad etc.) instead of cooked.

Spinach

Contrary to popular belief spinach is not the most iron-rich food, but it contains a significant amount of it: half a cup of cooked spinach provides one-fifth of the daily recommended dose of iron for women, (women require more then men). In addition, the spinach is rich in vitamins A, B9, E, C and beta-carotene which, in combination with iron improves the blood work.

Pomegranate

The pomegranate is very healthy, and rich in iron, calcium, potassium, copper, and some vitamins. The consumption of pomegranate increases the level of hemoglobin and improves the blood circulation.

Honey

Honey contains a significant amount of iron. In addition, it contains both copper and magnesium which increase the level of hemoglobin. The daily consumption of one tablespoon of honey with a glass of lemonade will not only treat anemia, but also help the organism in numerous ways, since honey is extremely healthy. The combination of honey with lemon is preferable, because lemon contains vitamin C, which greatly improves the absorption of iron.

Tomato

Tomato is not particularly rich in iron, but has other worthy substances. One fresh tomato a day will facilitate the absorption of iron, and will supply you with beta-carotene, lycopene, vegetable fiber and other useful things, which indirectly help to mitigate anemia.

Sesame

Black sesame is especially rich in iron, but white is also useful. A teaspoon of sesame every day will contribute to your health in many ways.

Eggs

Even though not too rich in iron, thanks to the special combination of vitamins and antioxidants they contain, the eggs alleviate anemia and contribute to the process of cell renewal.
